When we were tasked with bringing the Original Shadowrun Trilogy to modern consoles, as the sole designer I quickly knew we needed to redesign every bit of UI and UX, as the game made heavy use of its original Mouse and Keyboard controls. Every menu, screen, and interaction had to be completly re-envisioned to work on controllers, while still remaining distinctly Shadowrun. Through various testing rounds, and in close collaboration with our Programmers to find the best solutions to the variety of design problems we encountered, we managed to rebuild the game and bring it to the consoles for the first time, and a new genration of gamers.
If you are interested in a more in-depth look at all the effort that went into redesigning these games, I wrote a lengthy blogpost Here (loading might take a bit as it is using the Wayback machine to access the post)
In their review MMORPG.com said: "The button layout is intuitive and, dare I say, more fluid than the mouse and keyboard layout on the PC version. Overall, the controls are kept simple, so there’s no need for secondary or tertiary button combos to access additional functionality, something other games studios could learn from."
